Title
United States National Youth Administration Trainees
Description
Buffalo, New York. United States NYA (National Youth Administration) trainees between the ages of seventeen and twenty-one learning to use lathes in preparation for jobs in the war industry. They work eight hours a day and get paid forty dollars a month while training.
They would have been paid the equivalent of almost six hundred dollars today. If the program were in place today that may not even cover rent, however, the National Youth Administration provided housing for trainees. Therefore, trainees could save the money for future expenses and possibly further education.
